Poppy Installation and auction

Over the past term the Rainham School for Girls ARTPOD students from year 7 to year 9, with the guidance of Art Technicians Miss Mace and Miss Brockless have created an exciting and creative installation of ceramic poppies to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War I.

This installation includes handmade ceramic poppies that have been individually hand shaped, glazed and assembled onto ‘stems’ to produce one off pieces. This project was inspired by the 2014 ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ installation created in the moat of the Tower of London, commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of World War I.

We are incredibly proud of our students. To celebrate this, we wanted to give them a chance to showcase their exceptionally high standard of work, by presenting this installation to the front of the school to expose their work to a public audience including other students, teachers and visitors.

These ceramic poppies will be on display for the rest of this term (from Friday 9th November till Wednesday 9th December 2018) and as part of this venture, we are holding an in-house auction, in which members of RSG staff can bid on 35 available ceramic poppies, with bids starting at £10. All the money raised will go to the Royal British Legion Charity.
