Rainham Sixth Entry Criteria - 2022

Acceptance into Rainham Sixth is conditional on students achieving the following:

  • 5 GCSEs graded at 4 or above (counting 2 BTECs maximum)
  • A grade 4 in English or Maths

  • Grade 6 in Biology
  • Grade 7 in Combined (students with a high grade 6 may be considered)
  • Grade 5 in Maths

Business (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in English and Maths
  • Grade 4 in Business (if studied)

Chemistry

  • Grade 6 in Chemistry
  • Grade 7 in Combined
  • Grade 5 in Maths

Criminology

  • Grade 4 in English

Dance (BTEC)

  • Previous study of GCSE Dance / BTEC is desirable but not essential

Drama

  • Grade 5 in English Language
  • Grade 5 in Drama (if studied)

Economics

  • Grade 6 in English
  • Grade 5 in Maths

English Language & Literature

  • Grade 5 in either English Language or English Literature

English Literature

  • Grade 6 in English Language or English Literature

Financial Studies

  • Grade 4 in English and Maths

Fine Art

  • Grade 5 in Fine Art
  • If completed other Art based courses then a portfolio of evidence will be required to consider entry

Forensic Investigation (BTEC)

  • Grade 5-5 in combined science
  • Grade 5 in English

Geography

  • Grade 6 in Geography
  • Grade 5 in English Language

Government & Politics

  • Grade 4 in English

Graphic Communication

  • Grade 4 in GCSE Graphics or other Art & Design courses
  • If completed Design Technology based courses then a portfolio of evidence will be required to consider entry

Health & Social Care (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in English

History

  • Grade 6 in History
  • Grade 5 in English

Human Biology (BTEC)

  • Grade 5-5 in combined science
  • Grade 5 in English

IT (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in either English or Maths and an interest in IT

Law

  • Grade 5 in English, Maths, History or Psychology

Mathematics

  • Grade 7 in Maths

Media

  • Grade 5 in English

Music

  • Grade 5 in English
  • Play an instrument at Grade 4 (desirable

Philosophy & Ethics

  • Grade 5 in English
  • Grade 5 in Religious Studies (if studied)

Photography

  • Grade 4 in Art & Design
  • It is open to others who have a level of interest in creative subjects e.g. Media, Product Design, Textiles or Graphics however a portfolio of evidence will be required to consider entry

Physical Education

  • Grade 5 in Combined science
  • Grade 5 in GCSE Physical education (if studied)
  • Merit in BTEC sport (if studied)

Applied Psychology (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in English

Psychology

  • Grade 5 in English or Maths
  • Grade 5 in Psychology (if studied)

Science (BTEC)

  • Grade 5 in Combined science
  • Grade 5 in English Language

Sociology

  • Grade 4 in English
  • Grade 4 in Sociology (if studied)

Sport (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in GCSE Physical education (if studied)
  • Merit in BTEC sport (if studied)

Textiles

  • Grade 4 in Textiles or other Art & Design courses

Applied Tourism (BTEC)

  • Grade 4 in English is desirable
