Stellar
We are a fully inclusive school and offer an enriching curriculum providing support for the needs of all our students. This includes challenging the most able and supporting those who find learning more difficult. As part of this curriculum, we have embedded Stellar groups within each year group for our most able students.
Our extensive Stellar package is excellent. Students follow a bespoke curriculum which allows them to develop high-level thinking skills and a deep understanding across a wide range of subjects. Talent and passion is nurtured, which allows students to develop beyond the academic.
Vision: The Stellar Stream at our school embodies the core values of Collaboration, Aspiration, Respect, and Empowerment to provide a challenging, inclusive, and holistic education for students identified as high achievers. This program nurtures academic excellence while fostering leadership, social responsibility, and a growth mindset. Students will emerge as confident, well-rounded individuals ready to excel in higher education and make meaningful contributions to society.
Admission: Students joining us in Year 7 have an exciting opportunity to be a part of one of our Stellar groups at Rainham School for Girls. Stellar is similar to "grammar streams" offered in other schools. Students identified as suitable for a Stellar group will follow an enhanced curriculum with like-minded individuals to encourage high level academic discussion and learning whilst still enjoying the benefits of taking part in the broad range of subjects we offer. A range of outcomes, including KS2 data, are used to identify which students will be suited to the Stellar groups. Students who have passed their 11+ will automatically be placed into the Stellar class and those who were near passes have the opportunity to excel in a highly academic environment. Parents will be notified during the summer holidays if their daughter has been selected for one of our Stellar groups.
HPA: Identification of High Prior Attainers take place within the transition to year 7: those students with a KS2 average score (reading and maths) of 110+. This is then reviewed regularly as students progress through the school.
At Rainham School for Girls, we offer a range of super-curricular opportunities for our Stellar and HPA students, including:
- Bespoke numeracy and literacy based challenges during tutor time
- Journalism opportunities
- T&L ambassadors who collaborate and lead workshops for different year groups
- A brand new oracy based club which will develop HPA students into Voice Ambassadors
- Opportunities to lead assemblies within school
Students are encouraged to pursue interests beyond the classroom, developing independence, intellectual curiosity and the confidence to excel at higher academic levels.

A structured enrichment programme that recognises students who go beyond the curriculum through missions that develop curiosity, leadership and scholarly thinking.
Aims:
- Challenge you as a high attainer
- Encourage independent learning and critical thinking
- Celebrate leadership, creativity and academic identity
- Build habits needed for future academic success
