ACE = A Champion for Every Child: A bespoke pastoral mentoring initiative by Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) for Pupil Premium children.
Core feature – ALWAYS 1:1 mentoring: Each Pupil Premium child is paired with a dedicated and trained mentor (often pastoral tutors, called an ACE or Ambition Tutor) for one-to-one meetings—usually once or twice weekly, depending on the individual level of need —to provide tailored attendance, academic, social, and emotional support.
Aims to improve attendance, improve reading, close learning gaps, build confidence, boost readiness to learn, and improve life chances by building trust and consistent support with a 1:1 adult who is trained and stays with them on their school journey, forming a trusting relationship with the student and their family.

We gather and monitor a wide range of data points to evaluate programme effectiveness:

Impact Ed data – standard assessment metrics from the Impact Ed platform which include motivation, confidence, resilience and school engagement measures against national data.
ACE tracking sheet – central logs of session frequency, content, and progress against incremental but ambitious targets
Attendance data – and identifying pinch points
Reading age assessments – literacy progress tracking
Rewards data – tallying positive recognition for behaviour/effort
Suspension & exclusion rates – monitoring serious behavioural interventions
