Trip to Cologne, Germany 2019 - Day #1
Cologne Germany 2019
Day #1
An early start for our Year 11 students setting off with Mr Eason, Ms Boraki, Mrs Love and Mrs Taplin on on the Eurotunnel. They arrived in Cologne ahead of schedule, settled into their central accommodation and headed across to the biggest and most famous Christmas market at the Köln Dom. They crossed the famous padlock bridge, for several years now, love locks have been considered one of cologne's most charming traditions. As proof of their love, couples fix padlocks to the railings on the Hohenzollern Bridge and then would throw the key into the river below.
They then explored the first Christmas market and took photos of the Cathedral.
In front of the impressive backdrop of Cologne's landmark cathedral, the Christmas market awaited them, the 160 attractively designed wooden pavilions, with Christmas music, arts and crafts, toys and Christmas decorations all around. There were wreath binders and glassblowers demonstrating their art, and the aroma of Hot chocolate, hot chestnuts and gingerbread filled the air.
