What a start to our New York adventure! 🗽 After a very early 2.30am start, our students arrived safely in NYC full of energy and excitement. There was no time to waste — they headed straight to the Barclays Center to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on the Indiana Pacers 🏀 An incredible atmosphere and a fantastic experience for everyone! Tomorrow the group will be lacing up their skates for ice skating in Central Park ⛸️ We can’t wait to see more memories being made in the city that never sleeps! Stay tuned for more updates! 🇺🇸

Our Year 8 netball team represented the school brilliantly yesterday at Kent Netball Tournament. Competing against a tough field of grammar and private schools, the girls demonstrated fantastic resilience throughout the day and were rewarded with a well-deserved victory in one of their matches 🥇

On Tuesday 12th February, we attended the School Games Dodgeball Competition! 🏐 The event was led by British Dodgeball, with matches officiated by fantastic young leaders from Mid Kent College, who did an excellent job throughout the day. We competed against a range of schools from across Kent and are proud to have finished 7th overall! 💪 Well done to all of our pupils for their teamwork, determination and brilliant sportsmanship – you represented the school superbly! 👏🎉

Our RSG 6th Formers kicked off their morning with an inspiring start by joining the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast! It was a fantastic opportunity to grab a bite while celebrating the incredible achievements of women in STEM—specifically the powerhouse duo Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier. The group chatted about how these two scientists made history as the first all-female team to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their “genetic scissors,” CRISPR-Cas9. It’s pretty mind-blowing to think that the tech they developed can literally edit DNA to help treat serious diseases. Events like this are all about building a supportive community and showing our students that there’s a massive seat at the table for them in the world of science.

👏 Well done to our students! 👏 The following students recently took part in the GB Level 1 Dodgeball Officiating Course, gaining an official qualification in dodgeball officiating. As a result of this achievement, they’ll be putting their new skills into action by helping to officiate at the Secondary School Games competition for Year 7 on 26th March. A fantastic opportunity to develop leadership, confidence, and sporting knowledge — we’re really proud of you all! 🏐🙌

A huge shoutout to Priya (Year 13) for organising a brilliant memory test and setting up a JustGiving page, which has already raised an amazing £425 🙌 Thank you to everyone who got involved, donated, and helped spark important conversations. Today is #SaferInternetDay 2026. We’re joining thousands of others in shining a light on Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing. It’s a great opportunity to start conversations with young people about their online lives and to explore how we can support them. This year’s theme is, ‘Smart tech and safe choice. Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI’. Students will be having an assembly this week exploring how AI is used in our daily lives, what to watch out for, and scenarios to get students thinking critically about AI. For more information around AI and Online Safety, please read our termly Online Safety newsletter emailed to all parents and carers, and on our website.

Yesterday our sixth formers took part in ✨ Praise a Peer Day ✨ Students wrote positive postcards for one another, celebrating strengths, achievements, and the qualities that make each person unique. These messages served as a powerful source of motivation, reminding students of their abilities and the impact they have on others. By uplifting one another, our sixth formers helped build confidence, encourage self-belief, and create a supportive community where everyone feels empowered to succeed 💌 #PraiseAPeer #SixthFormLife #StudentEmpowerment #MotivationMatters #KindnessMatters PositiveCommunity

Celebrating Culture and Collaboration! 🇯🇲👯‍♀️ Our Dance Department is currently buzzing with our Global Dance Topic, and this week was truly special. We believe there is no better way to learn about the world than through the people who know it best—our students! A massive well done to Amirah in Year 8, who stepped up to lead her peers in a Jamaican dance workshop. Amirah worked closely with her teacher to develop a specialised toolkit of moves, ensuring that her heritage and style are shared across the entire Year 8 cohort. We are so proud to see our students taking ownership of their culture and providing such valuable resources for their classmates. Leadership and creativity at its finest! 👏 #SchoolCommunity #GlobalDance #StudentVoice #Jamaica #DanceWorkshop CurriculumCreators

Huge shout-out to Kirsten (Yr11) and Isabella (Yr12) 👏🔬 These two have been doing an amazing job running a Science revision club to support their peers with mock exams. They’ve worked closely with staff to identify key focus areas. By sharing their own knowledge and expertise, Kirsten and Isabella are not only helping others succeed but also building confidence across the group. A brilliant example of leadership, teamwork and dedication — well done both! 🌟 #StudentLeadership #ScienceRevision #SupportingEachOther #WellDone

As part of our careers programme, we follow the Gatsby Benchmark criteria, recognised as the Gold Standard in careers education. Benchmark 2 – Provider Engagement focuses on giving students opportunities to listen to and speak with a wide range of employers and employees from different organisations. Last week, we were delighted to welcome Jacksons Construction, who delivered an engaging workshop for our Year 7 students. Students learned about careers within the construction industry and took part in fun, hands-on activities that explored some of the key skills needed for these roles. A great experience helping students begin to understand the world of work and the many pathways available to them!
